Chelsea’s hopes of securing three points vanished in stoppage time, leaving manager Enzo Maresca deeply frustrated as Chelsea failed to win.

In their Premier League clash at Brentford on Sunday (14/9/2025) early morning local time, Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw. The Blues had to work hard after conceding the opener from Kevin Schade in the 35th minute, before turning the game around.

Cole Palmer equalized in the 61st minute, and Chelsea took the lead in the 85th. But victory slipped away when Fabio Carvalho scored in injury time from a throw-in. Schade’s long throw wasn’t dealt with, the ball reached the far post, and Carvalho pounced as Alejandro Garnacho failed to guard his area.

“It’s such a pity. We should have handled that moment better, but in the end we conceded and lost two points,” Maresca told BBC.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Maresca repeated his frustration, saying his team reacted well after a difficult first half but were punished for losing focus late on.

“We knew it was a tough game. In the first half, we struggled to find space, but in the second half we were much better. Unfortunately, conceding in the 93rd minute was very costly,” he explained.

Despite the draw, Chelsea remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season. With two wins and two draws from four matches, the Blues sit fifth in the standings with eight points.
