Israel is reportedly planning to annex the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing conflict that has persisted since October 2023. This move has raised concerns among various parties, including international relations experts who believe it could worsen the humanitarian and security situation in the region.

According to several reports, Israel’s intention to take full control of Gaza is seen as part of a long-term strategy aimed at expanding its territorial dominance. This plan is also expected to further complicate peace efforts that the international community has been striving to achieve for years.

An Indonesian international relations expert stressed that the Indonesian government should take a firm stance through diplomatic channels. “Indonesia holds a strategic position on the global stage, especially through its active role in the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Indonesia’s diplomatic actions will be crucial in rallying global support,” the expert said.

The expert recommended several concrete steps that Indonesia could take, including:

  1. Increasing diplomatic pressure on Israel through international forums.

  2. Mobilizing support from friendly nations to reject the annexation of Gaza.

  3. Pushing for a UN resolution that urges Israel to halt the plan.

  4. Providing continuous humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

These steps are seen not only as a way to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a country that consistently supports Palestinian independence but also as a contribution to maintaining stability in the Middle East.

The Gaza annexation plan comes amid a rising death toll caused by Israeli attacks. According to data from Gaza’s health authorities, tens of thousands of civilians, including women and children, have been killed since the assault began.

Indonesia has long maintained its unwavering support for Palestine and rejects all forms of illegal occupation. The government is expected to continue using all diplomatic channels to prevent further escalation in Gaza.
