New Policy: Retirement Age Becomes 59 in 2025, When Can You Withdraw BPJS Pension?

Starting in 2025, Indonesia’s retirement age increases from 58 to 59, as stated in Government Regulation (PP) No. 45/2015. This affects when workers can withdraw their BPJS Employment Pension Fund (JP).

Pension benefits can be claimed by:

  • Workers reaching retirement age

  • Those with total permanent disability

  • Deceased workers (payable to their heirs)

Monthly pension benefits range between IDR 300,000 to IDR 3.6 million, calculated using an annual indexed formula.

If a worker continues working past retirement, they can postpone claiming the pension for up to 3 years.

Under Article 26(1) of PP No. 60/2015, “retirement” also includes:

  1. Resignation

  2. Termination (PHK)

  3. Permanently leaving Indonesia

Thus, employees who resign or are laid off are still entitled to withdraw their JHT.
