Investigators from the NTB Regional Police’s General Criminal Investigation Directorate have detained two of Brigadier Muhammad Nurhadi’s former superiors, YG and HC, in connection with his death at a private villa in Gili Trawangan. Nurhadi was found dead at the bottom of the villa’s swimming pool.
HC’s legal counsel, Gusti Lanang Bratasuta, stated that his client was not at the scene during the incident, as HC had been staying at a different hotel. “HC was not present at the location because he stayed elsewhere,” said Gusti in Mataram, Monday (July 7, 2025). HC is being charged under Article 359 of the Indonesian Penal Code for negligence causing death. Gusti questioned the grounds of the allegation, emphasizing it was the investigators’ discretion.
So far, three suspects have been detained: YG, HC, and a woman identified as M from outside NTB. Investigators have interviewed 18 witnesses and consulted 5 experts, including forensic, pathology, criminal, and polygraph specialists, as well as the initial attending physician from Bhayangkara Hospital.
Gusti urged that the investigation be conducted transparently to prevent public misperceptions and premature judgments against the suspects. “All evidence must be objectively tested,” he emphasized.
Previously, investigators conducted a crime scene reenactment on May 6, 2025, at The Beach House Resort Hotel, including the villa where Nurhadi had stayed with Kompol YG and Ipda AC. Nurhadi was found lifeless in the pool on April 16, 2025.
A postmortem examination revealed signs of violence, including a fractured hyoid bone, which forensic doctors suspect was due to strangulation. A handle-like structure consistent with one found in the pool was also discovered. Forensic results indicate that Nurhadi was likely still alive when he entered the water and drowned thereafter.
