The investigation into the alleged fake diploma case involving President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is moving forward. The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) announced plans to hold a case conference soon, even though one of the reported parties, lawyer Eggi Sudjana, has not yet been questioned.
According to Police Public Relations Head Kombes Budi Hermanto, investigators have sent two summons letters to Eggi Sudjana. However, he has not been able to attend due to illness and is reportedly receiving medical treatment abroad.
“Two summons have been delivered and acknowledged by his family and legal representatives, but ES failed to appear due to serious illness and ongoing treatment overseas,” said Budi on Monday (Nov 3, 2025).
Budi added that the family and legal team have submitted medical certificates as official documentation.
Despite this, the police will proceed with the case. A case conference involving prosecutors from the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati DKI) will take place soon.
“This session is part of the investigation process conducted jointly by the Sub-Directorate of State Security and the prosecutors,” Budi explained.
While the schedule remains unconfirmed, the police emphasize the importance of maintaining transparency and inter-agency coordination throughout the process.
To date, investigators have questioned 117 witnesses, including 11 suspects, and heard testimonies from 19 experts, with six more expected to testify soon.
Budi reaffirmed that every investigative step is being conducted according to legal procedures to ensure the case’s clarity and integrity.
