The late King of the Surakarta Palace, Pakubuwono XIII, will be laid to rest at the Imogiri Royal Cemetery in Yogyakarta on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. The news was confirmed by his sister, GKR Wandasari, also known as Gusti Moeng, on Sunday (November 2, 2025).
“The funeral has been scheduled for Wednesday, November 5, starting at 08:00 AM,” said Gusti Moeng, as reported by detikJateng.
Before the burial, a royal traditional ceremony will take place as part of the palace’s customs. All arrangements for the funeral procession have been thoroughly prepared by the Surakarta Palace.
The royal hearse carrying the King’s body will take a ceremonial route starting from the Surakarta Palace, passing Bangsal Magangan, the South Square, Gading area, the Tipes intersection, turning towards Slamet Riyadi Street, and ending at the official residence of the Solo Mayor, Loji Gandrung.
“There was an initial plan to stop at Wuryaningratan, but it has now been confirmed that the final stop will be at Loji Gandrung with permission from the Mayor,” she explained.
Pakubuwono XIII passed away earlier today after battling complications from illness and receiving intensive hospital treatment.
