Another earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 shook Sukabumi, West Java, at 16:23 local time this afternoon. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the epicenter was located on land, 28 km northeast of Sukabumi, with a depth of 8 km.

According to BMKG, the earthquake was classified as a shallow quake caused by active fault activity. Residents reported feeling tremors in Kalapanunggal, Kabandungan, Dramaga, and Palabuhan Ratu, with an intensity scale of II MMI, meaning light shaking was felt by some people and hanging objects swayed.

This 3.8 magnitude quake is part of a series of aftershocks following the main earthquake of magnitude 4.0 that struck on Saturday (September 20) at 23:47 local time. Until 16:37 WIB, BMKG recorded 38 aftershocks with magnitudes ranging from 1.9 to 3.8.

BMKG urged residents to remain calm, stay alert, and avoid unverified information circulating in the community.
